Beautiful conditions but few bites
« on: May 28, 2017, 03:40:27 PM »
I finally got to get out this year for the first time.  Depressing but what can you do.  Saturday I was out of the  manasquan and turned right.  Immediately found bait but water was full of seaweed in close and difficult to snag bunker.  Have video of a humpback breaching water 30 yards from my boat.  Snagged a few bunker and sent them down with no bites. Worked my way to Lavalette without bites. Switched over to sea bass and fluke on the reef.  Only managed to catch shorts.  Coast guard was boarding everyone also,  which is good to see.  After the tide change,  I dropped some tools in the water and went on the troll to about 1pm. Nada! Called it a day
Today,  was out of the inlet before sunrise and all the boats.  Easy to find bait but again, not marking anything and no bites.  Manage to find some marks by 9am but no takers on the live line.  I packed it in and was in by 10am. Seems it was common scenario based upon what I heard on the radio.  All in all,  2 days fishing was great! Hope everyone had better luck
Fishing out of Clarks Landing on the "Iberian Cat" .  Normally on Channels 68 and 65

I had the same results. I went north and had all the bait you could want. Bluefish were all we got (or saw.)
