Update on Beach erosion 12.22.07
« on: December 23, 2007, 12:43:03 AM »
Hi All,

Got out just to see how the beach was fairing after another blow.  Well I think it lost some more ground or should I say sand.

As you can see by the pictures more sand has been eroded from the full width of the beach and it is very noticeable in one of the pictures below. I tried to give you some sort of reference to see how deep the cuts are in the picture with the pick up.

In the 3rd picture you can see a line of demarcation in the upper 1/3 of the picture from a dark blue gray to sort of a muddy blue.

There was only one brave soul out there thin morning, good casting form Bob.  I see he is using a chunk of clam.  I hope you were lucky.

Happy Catching

Paul

Hi All,

The erosion, is starting to fill back in nicely.  You have to still watch out for the pilings to the west of each groin but the cuts have been filling in nicely in Lavellette.

Ortley Beach is very fishable and should be put back on your list.

All access routes are open.
