A mixed weekend with mainly cautious water conditions. Saturday and Sunday will be mainly dry with chances of scattered showers. Saturday will be cloudier and Sunday will see more sun. Highs will be in the 70’s and 80’s with lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Water conditions will be cautious with long period ground swells from Hurricane Jose already making their way into the area. Seas will push 6+ feet inshore and 10+ feet midshore to offshore with a period of 15 seconds. Water conditions will only worsen through Tuesday and then gradually improve following. Right now, Jose will only glance the coast, as the center will stay 200+ miles offshore. This could change, so Jose will definitely need to be watched. Surf and beach conditions will also be cautious with surf heights 4-8 feet. Water temperatures are in the low 70’s. UV Index will be Moderate to High at 5-6/15.
A surface trough will weaken tonight. High pressure will gradually build to our north and then northeast through this weekend. Tropical cyclone Jose is forecast to move northward and intensify off the mid-
Atlantic coast through early next week. Mariners are urged to keep informed on the latest National Hurricane Center forecast.
The Atlantic Tropics are still very active after Irma made landfall on Florida. Hurricane Jose will just glance the coast, however it has already stirred up coastal waters. This will be the system to watch between now and Tuesday. There is also a Tropical Depression and area of invest in the Atlantic.
Have a great weekend! Sorry, for the no report last week. I was sick most of the week.
