I will be looking for a new surf rig this year Shimano has some interesting reels.

I'm going light this year.  Looking for a good graphite in anywhere from 8' to 12' not sure yet.

Any word on the New Shimano Saros (New for 2008)?

I may be looking at that instead of the Stradic or Quantam Cabo.

Although I haven't had a chance to see these in person yet, from what I've heard you'd probably be better off with the new Saragossa.  It's made specifically for saltwater use.  It's positioned just above the Spheros.  They should be available in March.  I'm sure Shimano will have them up at the Suffern, NY show.  I'm not sure whether you'd be able to see them at Raritan Expo,  but who knows? ;D

Saragosa looks good.

A bit more drag 22 vs 15lbs @ full over the Saros, so that looks like a winner if it is priced ok.

march is just in time for FF to get for my bday :)
