I would have liked to see a late september or october closing for the slow striper days. Lots of big fish that time of year.

In the time between the closing of Fluke last fall and the striper run, we pulled a ton of FLuke from 4-10 lbs while Sea Bassing.......a crying shame.

But let us still remember it only took the commercial boats 17 hours to reach their quota this year............and that is at a 14" fish...... 5hrug bngh :'( :P ::) ??? >:( nosmly

The NY fluke regs will be decided this Tuesday, March 11.  I believe the United Boatmen are pushing for a season option which would see a 20.5-inch limit, 2 fish bag limit and a season from May 15-Sept. 1.  Here is the full list of options:

1) 19.5 2 May 24 – July 13 Opens Memorial Day weekend 51

2) 19.5 2 June 14 – July 22 Opens Father’s Day weekend 39

3) 19.5 2 July 4 – August 4 Opens July 4th 32

4) 19.5 2 July 29 – Sept 1 Opens Labor Day 35

5) 19.5 3 May 24 – July 11 Opens Memorial Day weekend 49

6) 19.5 3 June 14 – July 20 Opens Father’s Day weekend 37

7) 19.5 3 July 4 – August 2 Opens July 4th 30

8 ) 19.5 3 July 31 – Sept 1 Opens Labor Day 33

9) 20 2 July 4 – Sept 1 Open July 4th – Labor Day 60

10) 20.5 4 May 15 – Sept 1 Open mid-May thru Labor Day

No matter how you slice it, it's not good.

A late summer/early fall slot limit would have been nice.

I guess we need to convert our anchor lockers to covert fishboxes in case we inadvertently cross the NY line on they way back in..... What a crock.

I caught my biggest fluke ever Oct07 while drifting around lookin to anchor for cbass. Some of you will remember it. Somethin like 26"-- the doormat was like 4-5" thick. Man that would have made a good anchor locker fishbox breakerinner.

Those CO's in NY and NJ know how to search a boat....saw in first hand when boarded last year.....all was good for the boat with no violations.
