First Spring Striper
« on: March 27, 2008, 11:21:34 AM »
The weather was so nice on Wednesday that I just had to get out and try. I went around 2pm to the north end of Raritan Bay. I had some clams and worms to tempt the first striper of the season. I stayed until 5pm and only had one touch. I was lucky enough to bring the short to the beach. I did not have a thermometer but the water still felt really cold and the fish did not fight that hard. He fell for the worm and I am planning on making him the first of many this year. Get out and enjoy the spring.

That's a start!  Good job on at least wetting a line.  The water is still just a tad to cold to get any real action.  It will be happening SOON though.  Nice to just get out and clear out the cob webs.  Thanks for the post.   t^

Good Going,

It won't be long now.  They have the first keeper at Gravling Point this week and I hear there are some shorts being caught in the flats in the Barnagat Bay.

Happy Catching

Sounded like a great time, I'm still waiting for my first.  Time is my issue.
