LBI weekend
« on: May 12, 2008, 03:31:08 AM »
Started Friday afternoon at the S. jetty - probably one of the top 3 winds I've fished - wind was NE screaming right across the inlet in my face along with the needle like rain - threw 4oz bucktails for 3 hours with no results (outgoing tide).
Friday night hit the one of the causeway bridges trying for weakies - threw different colors and sized finesse  fished last half the incoming, and the first couple hours of the falling tide - NADA.
Saturday morning - Hit the beach with clam and bunker - fished incoming (mid-island) for 4 hrs - 4 guys fishing together - not a single hit. Had lunch, moved south into BH area - the 4 of us fished 4 more hrs, same bait, clam and bunker - same results - not a sniff.
Saturday nite - back to the causeway bridge chasing weakfish fished the entire incoming tide without a bump.
Sunday morning - back to the beach - North end - started out west wind flat ocean at sunup, quickly changed to NNE blowing about 15 to 20 - water loaded with that friggin' "snotweed"  that crap you have to phsically pull of your rigs and bait - fished here about 1 1/2 hrs moved south tring to find a weed free area tried a couple - weed everywhere we stopped - fished 'till around 11AM not a sniff between the 4 of us, called it a weekend and headed home - back at it again next weekend.

Good try. They are there but probably hunkering down for this front blowing through.

Man is it windy here.  Gusts up to 48 mph so far with stronger ones on the way.  That wind off the ocean with such a long fetch is hitting us hard in the coast.

After a blow like this the bait of the day will be, clams, followed by clams, followed by clams.  Get the hint.  TT^
