May 5th Bassing
« on: May 05, 2008, 07:03:34 PM »
Jason and I each took a day from school & work respectively for a post Bar-Mitzvah weekend day of fishing.

We were 2 of @ 25 fares aboard the Fisherman. Got to Romers just at the end of the flood but didn't mark any life. Continued east until we finally made our first drop of the day on a small wreck. Siome life was read but only one small bas was caught (& released). Moved back to Romers for the ebb and it was on. Steady action for 4+ hours.
Jason got his limit. I caught 2 bass (1 being a short) and 2 bluefish. We each missed several bites and a few break offs. Everyone had at least 1 keeper with most taking their limits. Pool winner was 37" weighed a shade over 22.

As far as I saw everything was on clams, didn't see anyone do anything on chunks or heads.

FYI, get to the boat as early as possible, as the Fisherman has a big following and allot of regulars you want to get in the stern or a corner and not more than 3 or 4 spots up the side.

Actually I'm going with a bunch of guys for a bachelor party.  Supposedly he is saving a bunch of spots for us.  Don't know where he'll put us.

No problem though.  Rod taught me how to snake the corner stern position on the  Bandit trip.  One spot at a time. ;)
