Barnegat Bay
« on: May 07, 2008, 02:19:57 PM »
Went out this morning between 8:00 to 10:00 am.
Bunker, Gulp and clam nothing. I have one surface plug to my name so decided to try it. About the third cast a blue took it. About 3 lbs. More casting no results but they were following it in.
Some were breaking water directly behind it. Bay was very calm. No wind. Guess I will invest in some more plugs.  grtn

If you didn't, try varying your retrieve when the fish are following it. Twitch it, stop the retrieve, crank in faster. Sometimes it takes just a little coaxing to get them to hit. Alot of times if you go a little faster the fish thinks the bait is getting away and will strike.

At least you didn't get the skunk and it was a nice day to be on the water.  Wish I could have gone out. t^

Irish Ayes has it right on.  I know it is hard but just put the fact that there is a fish looking at your lure and try different things to make it strike.  Become one with the fish, OHUUUUUUUUMMMMMM.  Sorry.

Just that slight difference is good enough to make it strike.

Good Luck

I haven't been out since the blow but I am hearing that the beach is heating up(IBSP).  They are getting decant sized bass on bunker and clams.

I won't be able to get out till after the weekend.  Which is OK as I beleive the full moon is Monday so I might do a little night fishing and see what happens.  It will be the first time this year for the night thing.  I am hearing good things so it is worth the try.

Happy catching
