Raritan Bay Stripers 5/14
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:42:16 PM »
took a fishing friend John  who lives down the street out with me this morning, regular fishing partner Dave organizing and packing, leaving for Canada Friday for a one week fishing trip.we picked up a 1/2 bushel clams, plus I had about a dozen I had salted and frozen from last trip, fishing back bay by 7,fished all day in area Ward point secondary and Ward point Bend channel areas, caught fish on out going ,slack and caught the turn for the incoming, ended up with 8 shorts, most nice fat fish in the 26 inch range, again I caught one keeper just over 28 inches.wasn't going tell about how I caught this keeper, but very unusual story with picture.had a few hits then line takes off,set hook and fish on.fish stayed down did not feel like a striper, but could feel pumping and taking drag.got to surface for John to net and we thought it was foul hooked, landed and flopped on deck and circle hook was looped on twisted braided line that the fish had ingested and was naturally trying to pass through its body, talk about something having a sore butt.back in at Sayreville Ramp around 2:30.

I don't think it was tuff until I tried to help him pass it. ;D
