Great BASS Bite TODAY..
« on: May 23, 2008, 06:58:21 PM »
Who got it?  The Luna Sea did not.  No bass, just bluefish and even at that, it wasn't till later in the day.

I heard nobody got the Bass on today.  Lets hear how everyones day went.

Covered more area of raritan bay than I care to admit and not even a blue fish. Tried whole bunker, bunker heads, bunker chunks, trolling Rapala X-Raps.The wind was kicken and after 4 hours of nothing we were ready to give up. Was on our way back to Sewaren ramp when I made a last ditch drop on some marks near the 47 can and managed to salvage the day with a 29" striper. Weird though, had a live bunker on while drifting, felt a blue hitting the bait again and again but just could not set the hook on him. Got tired of playing so I took the reel out of free spool and turned the clicker off and stuck the pole in the holder. Not a minute later the pole's got a nice bend in it. Thought I finally hooked that blue but when the fish came up it was a striper and the only thing left of the whole bait was the head. Taking tomorrow off to avoid the opening day flukeathon but plan on being back out on sunday.

It seems like everyone had pretty much the same day, (and I thought Rod was bad luck)  ;D  I am curious to see reports from our sites sharpies in hopes they had better success.

Nick you gave it one hell of a try today You busted your ass geting those live bunker but you finally got 35 of them in the live well. We searched all over trying to put Hotrod into those stripers with no luck. Finally on the last stop by the keansburg pier the bluefish found us.It saved the day and Hotrod had a blast reeling them in. My neighbor really appreciated the fish I gave her and she thanks you also. All in all it was a fun day fishing with new people we meet on this site.

         Thanks Unc.
PS my back is still aching from the beating this morning boy it was a rough ride. Hotrod is
probaby soaking his gonads in a hot tub right now  rofla

I am sure your idea is correct.  As Rod also said, he thinks he is 2" shorter today also.

I fished everywhere and everyway and only boated blues and robins.  From 5pm till 3am.   I was very upset.
