5/25 No Bass Report
« on: May 25, 2008, 11:57:41 PM »
Headed out today with Steve, Uri, Stan, and Paul......boys wanted Bass.
Got and early start and left the dock at 0615, had a good feeling which disappeared real soon.

Started on the outside clamming, zippo, moved to Romer some skates and zippo, moved to the Knoll, Zip, Old Orchard Zip........as i had an evening Charter I had Bunkers, and Fluke bait onboard in addition to my clams. MAde some calls, and got the same report from others, Nodda, Told the boys that the Bass were just not going to hapen that we should switch to Fluke or target Blues, no go they wanted Bass.

Made three more drops, stayed out longer to try some additional spots zippo. Boys did not seem unhappy as they knew I was trying and in all our stops we did not see a fish landed anywhere.

Some times no matter what you do, it just does not come together

Not much bass action in bay lately. They moved to the outside chasing the bunker schools down the beach.

We tried for bass also on Sat and nothing. Went for the Fluke on Sunday and everyone on the radio  said no Bass being caught.
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

The last reports I heard bass caught were between Mothers day and last Thursday.  Guys mark your calendars for those days as it is then that you will do well every year.  There is a full moon right around that time and the run out of the estuaries and rivers start big time.

Right now at least off the surf the beat time for bass is before sunrise and after sunset.

Happy Catching

Some days your the dog & other days you are the hydrant.

The Bass bite in the bay is far from being over.

Know some Charter Captains that did quite well on Sun & Mon.

Seek & you shall find.

Also there is a ton of Bass to the south.

Capt Bob you will get them next time !

Things are just beginning to heat up. The bass will be around for another month at least.
