Had the Rotondo charter aboard, started out drifting the shallows S of the inlet for some opening day fluke... First fish to come up was a 17" fluke, but after that the skates took over, so we headed out to the reef for some seabass and ling.
Fished 3 pieces, all had life, with the first producing the best. Nice pick of mixed size seabass and some mutant sized ling... Wound up with roughly 2 dozen seabass to 2# and 8 big fat ling...
Got a call then from Capt Chris of Wally World at around noon that he was into a bass bite up north, so we fired up the e-tec and ran his way... Put the jigs on cause we were in a hurry, and on the Second drift with some scattered bunker pods just N of SRI, Anthony nailed a nice 20# fish on a 3 oz. Crippled herring, and that fish was followed by a few more... For the next hour we had a slowish pick of 35-40" bass, lost a few in the process, but it was still a decent bite. Nice to see an OCEAN bass bite close to home!!
Good trip, mixed bag fishing at its finest! Will post the pics on the boat website on Monday as my camera is in the truck - too tired to upload
