Chicken Canyon
« on: July 30, 2008, 09:28:48 PM »
Could someone please give me the coordinates for the Chicken Canyon and how far is it from the tip of sandy hook appox. Also if you do you know is it just a rapid depth change there that makes it a popular place to fish or is it covered with wrecks. Thanks in advance.

Haven't fished there since the late 80's If I remember it was somewhere around 50 miles. Don't go to the bank with that, it's been a long time.

Yea I think it might be a little further than that. And, a charter capt. told me bluefin tuna out there are going pretty good. Sharks slowed down a bit but always available. t^

Here is some info on the Chicken Canyon from the Manasquan Inlet.

GPS# - 39 43.630 72 52.580
Miles from Manasquan Inlet - 57.36
Heading from Manasquan Inlet - 112

If you have a chart plotter, punch in the #s and it should give you the bearing and miles from your location.

Good luck and good fishing.  t^

Not bad for 20+ years. How come I can’t remember what I had for lunch now?

HAHA Rick, I fished there once in my boat when I had it in the Highlands. That was 14 years ago. I kinda remember it being about 60 or so miles from Sandy Hook. What with having to head SE from there. That is, if I remember correctly.  ;D
