Reel Class Report 5/31
« on: May 31, 2008, 05:47:11 PM »
Nasty ocean today, decided to stay inside and fish the river and canal with light tackle, plugs, poppers, metal, and soft plastics for bluefish-bass-weakfish and maybe a fluke. Was joined by Steve M, Bluefish Steve and his buddy Ron, and Capt Anthony of the Angela Rose who jumped on after some convincing on my part b/c he was going house hunting this afternoon  (welcome to my world bud :) )

Anyway, shot up to the mouth of the canal, and immediately started catching cocktail bluefish, and this lasted throughout the morning until we left the area to look for some bass around the bridges. We pretty much had at least 2-3 fish on for most of the trip.

At day's end we pretty much annihilated the bluefish in the 2-4 pound class, probably caught over 100, and had a ton of fish on topwater and 6# tackle, a few on plugs, and a few on metal. No weakfish, no fluke, no bass in the boat for us today though.

Also had two occasions where we had 2 bluefish on one popper, they were pretty darn thick! Overall a great trip, lots of bent rods, good action, great company  chrz

those bluefish save the day most of the time... looks like everyone had a great time, and maybe stayed dry too ? nice report  TT^
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
