Fish On 42 Sandy Hook Report 6/2
« on: June 02, 2008, 06:19:12 PM »
Yes, I took a vacation day for work and I went fishing at the tip of sandy hook again. I called up my cousin this morning at about 650, asked him where he was and he said, on route 36 going to the bait store. So I said screw it, im calling out of work, ill be down in an hour. After getting ready and what not, I started fishing the point at about 9 o clock this morning. Right off the bat i caught 4 short fluke of course. My cousin caught an 18" fluke in the first hour or so of fishing. We saw a few smacks on top of the water, so we threw out some spoons real quick and caught a few 2-4 pound bluefish, in which we kept 2 of the smaller ones. I had something on which took all my line out of my reel and snapped it. Have no clue what it was, probably like a 15# bluefish, but I'll never know. Fishing started to slow down for a few hours from around 11 until 2. We fished a little more caught alot more searobins, a few sundials, and very few more short fluke. Not as much fluke action as yesterday. Called it a day at around 3 o clock because we were all hungry. On our walk back we saw what I think was the carcass of a seal that was probably dead there for a few weeks. Anyway went to get some food at "Something Fishy" I think its called, right by the Shrewsbury River. It was a pretty good day, got alot of sun again, totalled the day with 1 fluke, and 2 bluefish.  5hrug Better luck with the fluke more into the season.  t^

Nice report Fishon. A shame about getting your getting spooled. I'm betting it was about a 40 pound striper that did that to you.  ;D
