Evening Stripers 6/7
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:41:54 AM »
went out last night with friend Ken and his wife Hon on there boat The Breeze.we had  a bushel of fresh clams.launched at Sayreville at around  5:30 with almost a dead low tide.headed out to Romers Shoal, anchored and chummed heavy, nothing to show for our effort but a blue fish, some dogfish that made a mess of everybodys line, hung for couple hours and decided to work our way back, got some markings old orchard area, stopped here a while, but still nothing for us but skates and dogfish.decided to head to back bay where Ken did well on the bass yesterday morning.we anchored in the back,it was the tail end of the high tide,Ken had a nice run off that he missed, then at actual slack tide started getting some action, missed a few and caught about 6 shorts.hung here to around a little after 12 but no keepers.I was happy with the action,it was a beautiful night out there. occaisonally you could feel a pocket of warm air hit you like the heat being turned on.Back at Ken's house in Sayrevillle by 12:40 and I got home around 1:30. Good report. Might be time to switch to worming for bass at night in the deep.

I was out late afternoon/early evening and the breeze kept things comfortable but as you said every now & then you get that blast of warm air like someone openned an oven door.

Nice report and good catch on the shorts. Many times you have to try many places and put in a lot of time before you get the bite going.
