6-11, slow day but It was worth it.
« on: June 11, 2008, 08:50:50 PM »
I had a really late start today and after spending 1 hour trying to learn how to throw a 12' cast netI gave up and spent 5 minutes throwing the 5' to fill the well. The bunker were mad heavy at the marina. I went to the hook and then south looking for life but nothing was there. I drifted heads for a little while and live lined but only managed big blues. headed over to romers and nothing. Went into both banks for nothing and went over by rockaway inlet with nothing.....Finally started heading back and halfway home I saw bait on the screen. I turned around and put some bait down and within minutes I had 2 bass in the box. 29" -33". Messed around some more but the wife was calling >:(   Over all not a bad day. Got sun burn, found out that 12' nets suck, spent too much money in gas, and then a ranger decides to measure my fish at the marina. Like I said,,29".......Friday will be a better day. t^

How far south did you run?

Maybe 2-3 miles past the nudies.

look for bait and you will find the stripers.. A great place to fish ocean side is the Highlands Bridge on the ocean side.. There are a ton of nice ledges there and drop offs.  If your 2-3 miles off the nuddies, thats probably where you were for the catch.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.
