Blues & Bass
« on: June 12, 2008, 10:44:35 AM »
Headed down to Shrewsberry From AH marina, after loading up on bunker.  Fished near the rocks for a pretty steady bluefish bite up to 15lbs.  Went to pull the anchor at around 8:30 when my reel started screaming.  First I thought it was just another blue, but it took out over 100 yards of line.  Finally got it to the boat and it was a nice bass weighing 29lbs. on the boga Great night to be out on the water.  It was "Like a Lake"

Congrats, way to go, nice fish all around. The water is warming and the fish seem to be turning on, everything seems to be about 3 weeks late this year, but it is happenning at least. My son just called fishing from the beach, fishing a bunker head, something took it and almost spolled him and then the line broke, he assumes a big striper.

Good report, thanks.  I am trying to get out to Ortley Beach this evening and see what is around.  Try some plugging on top.  It seems like the bass are on the bite, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to spend a couple of hours out there.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Good job with the last minute heroics.  I was out there a bit north of you working the birds.  All blues though.
