LBI SEA BASS 6/14 Reel Time Sportfishing
« on: June 14, 2008, 08:36:35 PM »
Today we met up at the boat at 3:30am, On board was Capt. Mike, Capt. John, Steve, Ralph and I. We made it to the Beach Haven area at sunrise in hopes of Striper. The fleet of boats had no problem finding the bunker but no Bass. Next we headed off a little over an hour to a wreck, set the hook and started for Sea Bass. Plenty of shorts, a decent pick of keepers, Capt. Mike raised 2 nice Tog and also a Ling.

Just before packing it in erupted a pod of bunker off the port bow and smashing through came a whopper of a Thresher! 2 rods were set up as quick as can be in hopes to land it but away it went. Either the same shark or another was spotted 30 mins or so later 5 miles off the coast. Reports over the radio of an 11' Mako was also caught along with many Brown Shark landings and someone spotted a Hammerhead harrasing bunker.

Nice report HB.  I know how you guys love those sharks! ;D  Too bad you couldn't get a hook in one.  Better luck next time.

Nice report Bob. It would have been nice to sink a hook into that thresher.  TT^
