6/21 Magic Hour Report
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:39:14 PM »
Jason & I fished once again aboard the Misty Morn's 5-9 magic hour fluke trip. Fished the far western stretch of the Reach Channel. Plenty of fish in this area.

Jason dropped a very nice fish early on in the first drift. This must have given us some bad ju-ju. We both caugth plenty of fish. I very easily had over 10 fish that were between 17.3/4-17.7/8"s and Jason had slightly less in that class.

I did win the all important first fish $1  ;D dragging bait but soon switched to bucktailing. I was using a white 1.5 ounce Spro tipped with a 4" GULP chartruse swimming minnow with a 1/4 ounce glow Spro as a teaser with a 2" GULP white swimming minnow. Both also had a small bait strip added. I caught an equal number of fluke on both. Towards the end of the trip I switched back over to dragging bait with a 4" GULP shrimp fished ahead of it off a dropper.

Jason and I each ended up with a keeper apiece. Mine came off the bucktail & Jason's from bait.

Fishing was good as the 14 fares put a total of 30 keepers in the boat. Bite was consistent from the first drift til the very end of the last drift. 2 people tied for high hook with 5, another had 4. Appears as if everyone had at least 1 keeper. Pool winner was #4.

If we were fishing under the 2007 regulations it is very likely we would have achieved a boat limit. Heck, even if the minimum size was 17.5" we would have been close to a boat limit.
