6-11 bass
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:08:26 PM »
Went out with bowguide after work and finally got on a couple decent bass.  Broke my reel snagging bunker, the trip before I broke my rod in half.  Never buy okuma, even for a cheap spinning reel to snag bunker, and st croix rods snap like a twig.  I am going to stick with chaos rods and avet reels.  If traffic wasn't so bad and we got out earlier, we would have done even better.  Still a great night to be on the water  TT^ Thanks Scott

BTW, it is funny, I have 3 okuma spinnng reels that have held up well (Epixors). However, I will never buy and Okuma reel again after havig toruble and seeing trouble with many.

I snapped a rod 2 weeks ago, but it wasn't a St Croix. I feel your pain.

Nich Fish! I snapped a rod last friday out on Raritan Bay. Graphite is nice, but one little nick ,then some pressure on it and POP, it's gone. It was my wife's pole, she was at work while I was out with a freind and now I owe her another one. She already has a nice $200 rod picked out. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

I am sure the St. Croix Brian snapped wasn't cheap :)

My bass Pro graphite I snapped on a blue was pretty cheap. Don't think I paid more then $30 for it with a bunch of other rods I got at the time.

Now if my GUSA sw70mh snaps, I will NOT be very happy.

Maybe I will back off the drag JUST a little tonight :)

lifetime warranty on the avid series.  I bought it last year for bass and never used it until the day I broke it.  St. Croix told me that my serial # on the rod was from 2001, so the rod I bought was not new at all, it was actually almost 7 years old.

Very surprised.

The avid St croix's series are awesome.

I have a 7 ft avid bait caster that I use when I worm Bass.

I have caught Bass up to 30 lbs on this rod & not once did I have a problem.

I have a premier series I will use to cast tonight if I see them on top.
Otherwise, chunking/live line duties fall o the GUSA SW70mH customw/ Avet Sx 5.2 and backup is my trusty Tsunami 6'6M w/ Shimano Charter Special 2000LD.

Two questions for you.

1.  Where did you buy it?

2.  Did St. Croix replace it for you?

Thanks,
Bob
