Raritan Bay fluke fishing is starting to finally heat up. The Misty Morn fished the Bay and picked away with 41 keepers aboard, her best fluke day so far. Misty Morn also fishes magic hours for fluke from 5pm to 9pm.
Aboard the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands Captain Ron has been playing catch and release with plenty of shorts but managing to find a few keepers for the dinner table. The Fishermen is fluke fishing 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Magic Hour Trips are running for blues 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
From Brielle the Big Jamaica continues to sail for chopper blues a sure bet and good times. Blue fish action remains solid the Jamaica is finding blues 15 miles North East of Brielle all on bait. Jamaica also found large schools of bluefish mixed with striped bass just 4 miles from the inlet and worked them as well.
Ocean fluke fishing improved for the Big Mohawk from Belmar. Captain Chris boated fish from 20 to 60ft off Long Branch. A 9 ½ and 101/2 pound fluke were boated this week. Anglers also had a nice mix of sea bass. Most fish were nailed on jigs. The Big Mohawk is fluke fishing 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Blue fishing on the Golden Eagle with Capt. Greg has been steady all week. Day or night Captain Gregg has been hunting big schools in and off shore. Both jigs and bait have been equally successful. Bass did show up briefly at times this week and anglers nailed some big fish over 30 lbs. The Golden Eagle is sailing daily for blues and stripers 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and for blues 7:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Congratulations to Reel Fantasea Charters, Captain Steve Purul from Barnegat Light nailed a 52lb trophy bass along with a few 40lb and plenty of thirties and twenties, Captain Steve has managed to find big fish all week and he is reading all the signs to lead him to them. Reel Fantasea found acres of bunker under attack from schools of striped bass from 20 to 40 lbs. First timer Tom Breeland landed the trophy bass.
