Tonights News on LION Fish.?????
« on: June 30, 2008, 08:42:25 PM »
Saw a clip on NEWS about these Lion fish that are now in the Atlantic (formerly only in the Pacific where they did very little damage)that are really eating up lots of stuff each day.A orgasnization  of divers are making a strong effort to catch and relocate because they say" the damage to the eco.system could be seriously effected by these Lion fish.Did any one see this? What you think?

After having owned a Russells Volitan for several years I can see how they could move in and tear an Eco- System apart.

If anyone hooks one make sure to use a de-hooker...Even a dead one can still release it's poison.

I heard that a couple of years ago. A couple of them escaped from an aquarium during hurricane andrew in 1992 and have ajusted to their new enviornment pretty well. Actually I heard a couple of them were caught in the Long Island Sound.

For the most part they'd likely stick to inshore wrecks and kill the Sea Bass and Tog populations.
I eventually lost mine after it lost it's head to my Queen Trigger. Hopefully the Atlantic Trigger can keep them in check.
