Met Detective Richie & Danny the super who works in my office Building at 12 am Sat Morning.
We loaded Richie's Sea Ray with all our gear and at 12:30am we headed out of Keyport Marine Basin.1st Stop AH for Bunkies. When we arrived in the harbor the Bluefish were pushing the bunker against the Bulk head & Ferry. The amount of Bunker was insane.2 of us snagged 75 Bunker.Once we loaded the live well off we went.1st stop was a spot right off the hook.We drifted Sandworms and Live Bunker but nothing was doing.I Turned to Richie & said lets go for a ride.We went to the rocks and dropped anchor.3 lines in.45 minutes goes by without a hit.Plus the lines would not sit straight
I said guys we are not going to catch this way.We moved around abit and took a few more drifts and we still could not hook up.Well since we were not hooking up we decided to put some steaks & Burgers on the grill while the action was slow.Once it got light out.We moved up off the Highlands bridge and I noticed 2 guys that I know drifting small pods of Bunker. We took a few drifts in that area but once again nothing was doing. The small pods broke up and the other Boats fishing the area ran south.I decided to run North & it paid off
We found the pod of all pods and as soon as we dropped down all 3 of us were hooked up.Danny fish was the 1st fish netted and that Bass went 41" not bad this was Danny 1st Bass ever.Richie lost his Bass but I landed mine and that Bass went 40".Baited up again and I hooked up again. We were all by our-selves.Richie said guys I am not feeling well.Richie hung in there but you can tell the guy was not feeling well plus this guy was up 36 straight hrs.Richie says guys I don't know how much longer I can do this.I turned to Richie & said we will take a few more drifts and once these Bunker move we will head back to the dock.Richie started feeling better once I told him this
so we continued drifting. At 9am we had 8 Bass & the smallest Bass was 39".We cleaned up the crime scene and headed back to Keyport Marine.Danny wanted to keep his 1st Bass ever.So we kept the 1 bass & the 7 other Bass were released.Once the boat was tied up at the slip.We started taking our gear off.Danny says Art does the shop have a certified scale in it.I said yes bring the Bass up & go into the store and someone will weigh your fish.Bob & John said wow nice fish.Danny puts the Bass on the scale and the Bass weighed 23.5 lbs.
Mission accomplished
