Hey Everyone..
Bluefishing this past week was awesome. On Tuesday's, Thursday's, and Friday's charters, bluefish up to 13.2 pounds were reeled up in bunches. Jigging was the method of choice and that was followed by top water poppers and bunker. The bluefish on all 3 trips were crashing the top of the water like it was their job. Stripers where also caught but we didn't have any big fish. After hours of catching fish non stop, we had converted over to fluke fishing which was ok. We caught a bunch of shorts but no keepers. We kept in shallow waters close to the beach and that's where most of the fish were caught. Water temps were about average for this time of the season and W/SW winds at less then 10 knots made for awesomely calm seas. Locations varied from Mantaloking to Long Branch and live bunker, lake smelt, spearing, squid, and jigs was out bait / lures of choice.
