Raritan Bay Fluking 7/10

John,Dave and myself  got early start this morning,launched at Sayreville,fishing back bay by 6:40,started with tail end of out going,nothing,moved vicinity Raritan Bay light house,first  drift Dave picks one just over 18 inches and then John followed with a 22 incher,o boy good start,but that was it, each landed one more short,I got one short to the boat but it got off.John did get a bluefish.bait for the day was smelt with a squid strip.no more action,moved around in the area,stayed in some long drifts but nothing,once the tide changed it was wind against tide.finally called it quits around 1:30,had no action for a couple hours.it was beautiful day out there,sunny day,a nice breeze,first time for me this year getting the skunk.

Nice report Kez. Your boat didn't get the skunk and you had one to the boat. Keep at it and get them next time.  t^

good job on the keeps  t^

I have noticed the back bay can be like that we recently made a move out to the ocean almost in frustration and man did it pay off. We put 3 keeps in a row in the box in about 10min on 1 drift off the nudie beach the other day-- almost unheard of, at least for us this year-- those puppys were hitting whatever we threw at them; guess they were hungry.

always did good back bay with keepers,the action wouldn't be as heavy as on the ocean,but the one's caught were always good sized,early in the season we did pretty good,only the last few trips haven't been that successful,last year made an occaisonal run outside,but actually to far of a run,especially with today's gas prices.I guess it's all about being out the right day at the right time and at the right place,that's why it's called fishing not catching.    Kez
