Irish Ayes fluking July 15
« on: July 16, 2008, 09:00:39 PM »
Had Ron P, Ralph, George and Bob G aboard yesterday. Started out running to Long Branch and making our first drift off of the antenna over a rocky bottom. Many short fluke and sea bass. Also had some keeper sea bass and a 22" fluke.

Began our move back toward Shark River making several stops. Off of Asbury we picked up two more keeper fluke, one at 23" and the other at 25". Biggest weighed in at 6.2#s. Where were these fish on Saturday.  :P

Saw pods of dolphin breaking water all over near Asbury. Had to be at least a dozen different pods.

Also had bunker move in thru out the day. We snagged some and live lined. No bass but Bob G hooked up with a shark on the surface that frayed his line when the shark made a turn.

I had a shark? take a bunker and make several small runs. Eventually frayed the line and departed.

I also had a thresher shark pick up my fluke rig from the bottom and run straight to the top and make a spectacular jump for our entertainment. His entire body was out of the water! What a fantastic sight. He too, made off with my rig.  ;D

Had several small ling which were returned to hopefully grow up.

Took the day off today and chased the little white ball around. Will be back at the fishing tomorrow.  t^

Ron P with his 25" 6.2# fluke.

The days catch.

Nice Job Joe. I can't believe I didn't run into you out there yesterday. I was fishing the same area off of Long Branch, maybe 1/2 mile south of your first picture and worked the area all day.

Was a beautiful day out there. Nice job.  t^
