Fished IBSP this morning starting around 9:30. Tried several spots from A23 south to the inlet and back up past A23 with no luck. Used a bucktail with either squid or a Gulp 3" pink mullet the entire time. I did have one close call, because the mullet came back 1.5" at one point.
Was planning on heading home when I spotted a section of surf between two points that had a rip pulling outward. Right around A15. I remembered from my readings here and elsewhere that that might be a good spot to try. By now it was about 11:30 and i think the tide was just starting to come in.
Worked it for a couple casts, and then FISH ON. After a brief fight I found a sea robin on the hook. No big deal you say, well it was my first fish since starting this obsession a few months ago.
So back in he went and I went back at it. 2 or 3 casts later, bang, fish on again. Figured it was another robin, but to my delight, it was a fluke.
Nice looking fish, 2 inches too short to be my dinner, but nice none the less. Back in he went and home I went. Both were caught on the 3" pink mullet.
Beautiful day out there today. Much cooler then inland and water temp. was comfortable.
There were some spots that would be kinda tight at high tide as Paul mentioned, but possibly getting better judging by his description compared to today.
