Unbelievable that something like that can happen. Condolences to his family and friends.

That is amazing the velocity had to be tremendous.  I guess with todays fast retrieve reels and some mono lines that stretch to much things like this could happen especially if the sinker was close to the surface lodge into a rock and enough pressure wads put on it.

Wow, my condolences to his family, that is just not right, to young.

Yeah, that is just something how much force the weight came out of the water with to embed in his brain and kill him.  I have seen a lot of trauma and forces at work, but killed by a fishing sinker!  It's a real tragedy.  Make a note...if you get snagged, cut the line!  Your safety or your life aren't worth the few bucks the rigs cost.

Definitly sounds like he was snagged on earth and was pulling the pole straight back or something.. that is absolutley ridiculous, ive never heard of such a thing like this happening. Sad to hear, was only 21.. can never see myself going now. Condolensces to his family.
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
