For those of you with children from 2-15, there is a snapper tournament this coming Saturday August 23 from 10-Noon along the Keyport Bulkhead. There are different age bracjkets so a 2 year old is not competing against a 15 year old.
This is a very well run, organized event that attracts a good crowd.
There are enough prizes donated that everyone who registers usually ends up going home with something. Some of the prizes awarded in past years have been; Ugly Stick fishing rods, reels and 2 free passes for the Capt. John party boat.
Registration is free and each entry gets a bag of spearing and a snapper popper (at least in past years).
Since it appears as if I wont be going to North Carolina this weekend I'm pretty sure I'll be taking my son down this year. Last year was the first year he finished out of the top 3 for his age bracket and I know he's looking to redeem himself. Winners are determined by overall length of the fish, not by weight or quantity.
