Sea Girt Reef Report 8/1

Went out to the reef yesterday off of seagirt beach with 2 buddies.  Only fished for about 2 hours because the one guy had to leave but it was still a good time. weather was great 85degrees, wnw breeze.
We got about 15 shorts and 1 keeper that was 22 inches. Also saw a school of bunker jumping out of the water but unfortunately I didn't bring any of my own tackle, all we had were fluke rigs. However one time when I dropped the line I thought it was going out faster than usual and I felt a nice tug then realized there was a fish on there so I started to reel him in but I lost him . It was a good hard minute long fight. Haha. Bluefish maybe?

Possibly blue fish. But lately I have found some small browns and threshers with the bunker schools. Possibly...

Nice report, sounds like you had good action and a keeper, sounds like a nice day out on the water, even if it was a short period of time.

Like Joe mentioned the sharks are in the area and bunker seems to be the key to triggering them to bite.  You know when they are around, from Dog Fish to Hammerheads and every other can be found in our waters especially as he waters warm up.  August 22 is the peak of the shark season in our area so be ready for anything at this time of the year.
