Seawaren/Ambrose/SH Channel 8/5 report
« on: August 05, 2008, 05:26:28 PM »
Left the dock with 12 fares today and shot straight to the 14 bouy of the Reach....the group scored about 6 keeps when Capt John decided to move to the Ambrose Channel to catch the last of the incoming through the slack and beginning of the outgoing.

The whole fleet was fishing outside with a large group far out on the Ambrose channel.

Lots of action all day today except for a lull when the tide began to ebb and we had wind against.

No real monsters, but a good number of keeps and alot of throw backs just shy of 18"

Dragging baits and bucktailing seemed to work about the same.  Needed bigger tails and 8 to 12 ozs in the deeper water....moved to SH Channel and worked the Chapel Hill Channel....left them biting.

All in all a nice day on the water....long ride back to the dock at 3:40 PM.  Thanks for a shot at the deep water  flatties Capt. John.

Nice report. Kudos to the Captain for making the effort and getting you into deeper water for a good catch.  t^

Nice day, good catching.  chrz

It bears mentioning-- when deep water fluking with 8+ oz to hold, you're best off leaving your wimpy stick home. If you want a solid hookset and want to actually boat summadem doormats in 75+', you need something with some backbone.

Go get em....
