ysa fluke 8/10
« on: August 11, 2008, 01:45:53 PM »
Early start Sun. with the Hallmeister, Denise, and FQ aboard, to hopefully improve on our keeper tally. Headed around again and nailed two 19"er's on the first drift on the Jersey sammich: killie/squid combo. Also threw back 3 more 17.5ers. It was looking good for a slammin' day, so we repeated the drift, but by that time I guess the robbins and doggies had awakened and woke up hungry. Also I think every registered powerboat in NJ showed up around 7:15; guess I missed the memo. We made some moves around again and thought about sliding down to the Rocks, but the threat of foul weather and a fuel tank quietly whispering "feed me" kept us close. Headed up to Ambrose, tried some drifts in 75-80' to escape some of the bumperboats; released at least a four person '07 limit, but those two from the first drift would stand up as the only keepers for the weekend. Looked a little threatening both weather-and-firepower wise after the Navy ship left the bay with an escort of small Navy shootyouups and a CG chaser, so hightailed it back in time to clean up just before the rain.

Only wrinkle the entire weekend: gotta give thanks to the Jackhole who needed to get up my a$$ on the way back in to Keyport--- first he tries to pass me by the Keyport ramp- he was on plane?!?! (NO WAKE?) then realizes it might not be such a good idea (only reasonably smart thing I saw him do...) By the time I got under the bridge he was so close I couldn't even slow down to get into the slip or he woulda slammed me--- you sir need your head examined. He headed over across the way to KMB (I had to head that way also, to avoid him.) Oh yeah gave me a good excuse to fuel up since he nearly pushed me into the KMB fuel dock.
