Barnegat Weaks
« on: August 17, 2008, 06:36:32 PM »
Launched by the Mantoloking Bridge today with my wife aboard. Started fishing in Havens Cove, grass, 6ft of 77 degree water. 3 weakfish on Berkley "Recharge" sandworms. (damn recharge liquid leaked out of container, what's up with that?). State police were in the area "BUSTING BALLS" on anchored boats,  we decided to go elsewhere. It's amazing how you can be anchored, minding your own P's & Q's and be hasseled by the authorities, but if you have a $300,000 speedboat, doing 60mph, with a beer in your hand ,it's OK. Has anyone ever seen a large, expensive boat, being put through the 3rd degree? I know, dumb question.  5hrug Anyway, we moved down by Good Luck Point and picked up 2 more weakfish, biggest was 19". Also caught a few snappers, my wife was dissapointed at the first one. When I said "Snapper" she thought it meant Red Snapper (the fish guys, rofla ) Called it a day, and headed home. <'(((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

Good report FD, Good Luck Point has always been good to me when I had a boat.  It is one of the best crabbing spots around.

Sorry Dude.  I warned you about those Gulp containers.  Do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of decent sealable type containers with screw on lids at Shoprite.  Those containers that Berkley uses for their Gulp Alive products are terrible! :P

At least you caught some though! t^

Nice catch!!  Good to see some weakfish action...can't wait to get some this season.  Hopefully, I can manage a few from shore?!?!

What were the State Police busting chops over...just checking credentials and equipment??

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

ce boat was just going from one anchored/drifting boat to another. If you were flying around disreguarding all of the rules of the road, then you were OK. Seen a few boats head back to port after the hassel. One boat required a second police boat for back-up. nosmly  <'((((><

That's good to know (which I didn't) my house is between those two areas and I've never tried either one before. I'm actually behind Havens Crest and never fished there...
