Sorry for the late post...
Got out saturday for some fluking, fog kept us in the river whwre we picked up a small STRIPER
and afew 6-7lb blues
by the train bridge. Fog lifted around 8 oclock, so we ran up to Spring lake to wet a line for some flat ones. We immediately were hooked into 2 skates. Regrettably, we realized as both of these spiny terrors were flipping around on the deck, that we had no pliers.
after a 10+ minute ordeal trying to unhook said menaces, we dwecided we needed to run back to Fishermans supply to buy pliers.
Good thing we did, becasue, after a an unprodictive hour at the klondike, we ran into a large pod of ten to thirteen pound bluefish that were slamming poppers on the surface (off of bayhead). We had several of the choppers hooked, and landed alot as well. I had one that came unbuttoned by literally ripping the split ring and with it the hook of of the back of by Smack-it. Wow.
So, the daily totals... Skates- 2, bass-1, seabass- 1 (11 inch) fluke- 1 (15 inch) bluefish- many
Sunday, went out in the windy afternoon, landed zero fluke, one skate, and a shad at the bridge.
Should be lotsa fluke in the river next week, as they move out of the bay.
Gd luck
