Bayside A21 8/27
« on: August 28, 2008, 12:56:42 AM »
I fished the Bayside at A21 by the canoe and kayak launch!  Fished from 1930 hrs until 2200 hrs.  It was on the incoming and top of high tide.  Wind out of the east somewhere around at least 5mph, gusts maybe to 10mph...helped with the casting.  Launch was very busy, so it limited my fishing time.  Lots of bait, mostly spearing, breaking the surface of the water all over the area.  Threw some poppers, kastmasters and pink zoom flukes.  Didn't even get a hit!!

Part of the problem was the busy launch area and limited fishing area from shore.  Got a later start than I wanted so I wasn't able to completely scope out the area I wanted to fish.  However, when the yaks were gone, it was pitch black and super quiet...just me and the skeeters!  Great view of the Lighthouse...and the Nuclear Power Plant.

This wasn't the area I wanted to fish.  I think I want to try and get access to an area opposite Bathing Beach 1.  I don't know the number or if you are allowed in there.  There is a dirt road/trail in from the main roadway.  From the satellite view, there is a large pocket/channel that comes in from deeper waters of the Bay.  Looks like it might be another boat launch area, but it is much larger than where I fished tonight!

All in all, a great night.  I just need to scope out the places in daylight.  It will make it a lot easier!!  Tonight was the first time I have been to IBSP in years.  It is so nice out there.  Tonight it was quiet and peaceful and not crowded at all.  I was able to see the Ospreys and their nest along the road.  It was an enjoyable scenic ride!!

Good effort. The launch activity will certainly deter the fishing.

The park is a great place. Nature at it's finest.  t^
