Welcome Dave!
Please feel free to help make this a great yak fishing site by posting reports and info. OK, so what's your take on night yak fishing?
This past summer was my first doing alot of night fishing. Yes Flea, it's a different world out there at night. Took me a few times out until I no longer felt spooked, but after you settle down, it's really beautiful. My biggest adjustments were learning to find my way around and getting back to my launch spot. Distances really seem to expand after it gets dark. Even after lining up lights and landmarks, I always miss the mouth of Absecon creek by a good margin when trying to come back in from a couple miles out. Also, I never knew how much I depend on seeing my line to know what my rig is doing. I'm still learing how to use feel to control my line. The strange thing is, I haven't had that much success at night. I finally got some stripers about a month back along a sod bank but other than that, it's always been pretty quiet after the flounder bite turns off at sunset. So far I have tried bridge lights, sod banks, and skinny back waters. Just gotta put the time in I suppose...
