Northern Florida Fishing
« on: September 15, 2008, 11:04:29 AM »
Headed out to Florida in the 6th. to visit my uncle.  He had a fishing trip planned for sunday, the 7th.  Joined him and his neighbor for a trip on the intercoastal waterway.  launched near Amelia Island around 0700 and were netting bait right away.  Headed out to the St. Marys inlet to fish some rocks.  Marked fish all morning but the eastern blow had the water looking like coffee.  Tarpon were all through the wash, but no takers....only one strike.  Did hook up with a toad fish and a monster conger eel.  Headed back inside to search for some feeding reds. Fished a few holes with only one speckled trout until we were in some back water by a marina for structure.  Ended up hooking up with 2 reds, two speckled trout, and a summer flounder.  Not a bad experience for a first time with bad water conditions.  May be back down in february for some more.

Thanks for the report.  Always love to fish in Florida.  I mostly fish the western coast and Tampa Bay area.   Good Red Fish area as well.   grtn
