Lake Ontairo Fishing Report
« on: September 02, 2008, 08:39:37 AM »
Fished the lake this past weekend out of the Salmon River. Trolled for 33 hours and 117 miles, boated two king Salmon and one 8lb Brown, Lost about 5 fish. It was very slow fishing, not just for me. Most people I spoke with were lucky to get one fish. Looks like the fish are about two or three weeks behind most years. Back up next weekend if the weather holds and try it again.
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

That sucks.  One hell of an effort though.

It has to turn on soon, those Kings arent going to hang in the lake forever. The spawn run will start eventually.

Notice what was in the bellies of the Kings??  Wondering if they are loaded with alewives.

Yea
It turned on Tuesday big time. Fish form 50 - 100 FOW. Looks like a week or two till the lake turns over then they will be in front of the river. Could change this weekend with the storms. Still kicking around to go or not to go this weekend.

Rain from Gavtav and wind from Hanna.
Looks like will have to wait till the next weekend.

Trailer to Oswego and launch there.  Even with the wind blowing you should get in 50-100 FOW just outside the breakwater.  Defintely do-able!

Thanks Guys
Hooked up with a guy who does this just about every weekend. We are going out on my boat and maybe I can learn a few things.

Sounds like fun.  Great to be able to learn new things, especially when it involves fishing!  Good luck again and catch some big ones!
