Good luck with your new rod!  t^

BTW, that Tsunami you were looking at was probably one of the lower end models.  Couldn't have been one of their Trophy or Airwave rods.  They would have run you around $80 to $130 depending on the model.  But if it was... ;)

I like the Tica's, I have one that is rated at 12 - 30 line wt and 2 - 8 oz lure wt.  It is the Dolphin Series and it is the 10' model.

Ditto, although mine is about 9'10" now ;D

It gets a little tiring tossing plugs though.

I purchased that same reel about 5 years ago and its still kicking. I use it off of the boat to cast metal at schools of blues and i can say that the drag is as smooth as can be. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Decided instead of replacing my 6'6" that just recently cracked I would by a better surf rod.  Im getting tired of not being able to cast rigs out further than 10 feet with my 7' surf pole.  >:( haha. Looking into a 9' Tica Surf. Medium heavy 30# line. Any other suggestions? 5hrug I want it mainly for throwing nice bunker heads and what not but still be able to use lures.

I have that same rod.  It has a pretty light action and is very strong, though the guides are rather suspect.  There are some nice Shimanos and St. Croixs out there as well.

i like my Tica... good choice... only surf pole i have that i like more is my Lamiglass... but that thing went for a nice nut of cash... next surf pole will be a Tica again... most bang for the buck so far in my experience...

i have an okuma solaris 10' (4-8 oz) that i use for throwing chunks.  i'm really enjoying the feel of the rod.

i also use a tica 9-footer for plugs/metals.  (1/2 - 2 oz)  Paul walked me through the purchase of that, and he was there when I gave it a try for the first time.  ask him about my reaction upon the first cast!  prior to that, i was using a box-store set up that felt like i was swinging a telephone pole it was so heavy.

if we ever cross paths, you're welcome to give them a try.

as for the reels, i use a daiwa emcast for chunking, great reel, smooth and casts a country mile (i could use all the help i can get)

for plugging, i use an abu garcia spinner that's pretty solid.  it took a decent dunking yesterday and now, it seems to have recovered just fine after a thorough cleaning.

Thanks, I am definitely leaning towards the Tica Dolphin 9 or 10 footer for plugging, which is what I do 99% of the time.  I was gifted a Shimano Stradic 6000FG, which is great.  I have been looking at the Daiwa Emcast or Emblem Pros since I have a Daiwa now that just started giving up on me after 18 years of rough use and not so great care!!

i have my own black cloud, so maybe it'll be like math class.
