My annual bluefishing group trip 9/22
« on: September 23, 2008, 11:41:32 AM »
Every year I join a group for a shot at blues for a fun day of fishing and dinner.

We left Shark River at 7 on a non-sponsor charter with 25 fisherman to a brisk, but not overwhelming NE breeze. Capt headed out to the Farms, where we picked away at a few fish, but moved out to the Sandy Hook Reef where we chummed up 3 to 5 lbers all day with a few 8 lbers mixed in.

False Albies were also in the slick and somehow a novice dropped his line to the bottom where he nailed a 5lb fluke on a sardine.  It was promptly released.

Bait, jigs whatever worked. Back at the dock by 2 PM.

Fun day with the novices enjoying a day of "catching".  Always enjoy at least one day a year like this.

Always fun catching the blues. They usually are very cooperative.  t^

nice report.  I am wondering why the Capt. did go to the mud buoy where the blues are in the 12-15 lbs range.. Gas? maybe..

This group had all they could handle with the smaller fish...lines were tangled bad enough as it was.
