i fish there frequently, as i live in Manahawkin. the inlet is tough. at the walkway, the current is so strong, you need some serious weight to hold bottom. you WILL lose rigs. casting metal and poppers is the way to go. if you walk to the end of the walkway, climb down onto the rocks (i reccomend korkers) it's a long walk to the end, but well worth it, you have access from there to deeper ocean water, and the crossroad of the inlet and the ocean. caught many sizes of many species there. it IS a long walk though, dont bring alot of gear. closer to the lighthouse, there is some very deep water, and it always holds bait, so is a good try.
