I took the advise of the wise man (Thanks Paul)
Shot to Lava this morning, pre-dawn, set up with a dozen clams on a nice pocket. Set up the sand spike, broke open a clam, hooked it and launched it.. Before I was able to snug up the line and drop the rod in the sand spike, FISH ON! I barely had a grip on the rod and it nearly came out of my hands. I must have dropped the clam right in the fish's mouth. First fish of the season at 25 inches...
Now I am feeling all sorts of warm and fuzzy inside and you should have seen the grin on my face. So I set up again, cast out and waited about 20 minutes and the rod takes another dip. After a set and miss, the fish came back and landed my second fish at 27.5 inches.
Uh huh, feeling GOOOOOD! So the re-bait and set up a third time, only took 15 minutes to land my third and final fish of the morning at fat 23 inches.
The sun finally came up and the bite was history. I hung out for another 2 hours drowning clams.
Even tho the fish were all short, I was ha ha happy!!!!
