10/4 Axel Carlson Reef
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:55:41 PM »
Got off to a late start today, broke Manasquan Inet about 9:15am. Bluefish right outside the inlet on the Manasquan side. Caught a few and moved on south to see if I could find any Striped ones. Read life everywhere but  nosmly stripers. Moved out to the Axel Carlson and started to hook up with Sea Bass. Left at 1pm, had to be somewhere at 3. rgmn  Took 12 Sea Bass home, released about 20 shorts, 1 porgie, 3 birds and 1 dog. Not bad for a quick trip.  chrz  <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

Just curious- what did you get your blues with, and were there birds? I too was out of manasquan, but later at aroud 1pm. Some bird action around the inlet, but not concentrated- kind of random. Fishfinder showed alot, probably bait, because I trolled the area and jigged for 2 hours and got none. Any comments? Thanks, Dan

Nice catch for a short trip.  t^

DJ, I was out also, north of you. At Asbury Park there were all the snapper blues you wanted. Readings all over the water column. Perhaps it was the snappers you were reading also, and that is why you didn't hook up on the troll.

Nice catch Dude! t^
Blues on cut bunker. I also trolled some Mann Stretch 25's and Clark Spoons to no avail. There were birds working outside the inlet, but boat traffic was messing things up. I again seen the birds working on my way in at 1:10pm, again, being broken up by traffic. Would be out again today, but not feeling soo well. nosmly   Maybe some medicine will help chrz    <'(((((><
