I fished the East River/Hells Gate on the flood tide on the afternoon of Sunday 10/5. I was out with my second son and a buddy and his kid. I didn't get to fish much, but the kids had a blast.
Total for the trip was...
5 big blues on eels
3 schoolie stripers on plastic worm tipped with a little sandworm.
We stopped using the eels after after we noticed that only blues were hitting the eels, and the kids got tired of fighting them. The stripers came up on the plastic but it was hard to get em to hit consistently.
