This pertains to the commercial fish traps.

Great info there!  Thanks Ant. t^

Can you tell me what is the purpose of this bill?
A595
Changes perimeter for Bow and arrow hunting around occupied building.

Are they trying to make it so you would be able to hunt closer to occupied buildings?

Thanks,
Bob

Yes. Here's why:

The current 450' rule is currently in place for both firearms and bow. As you know, the effective distance of a shotgun is greater than a bow. Bringing the perimeter to 150' is more relative to a bows capabilities.

More importantly, NJ is over running with deer. There are a significant number of deer that cannot be culled because of their proximity to occupied dwellings - this bill will help game manegement efforts to gain access to deer populations that are not currently available.

An arrow loses energy quickly - so it doesn't travel far. Almost all deer hunting with a bow is done from a tree stand, which means the arrown is pointed toward the ground. Most bow hunting is also done "very close" to the quarry so there is little error in target identification. These factor into bow hunting be a very safe activity.

I'd be happy to expand further if you like. Just giving the short answer.
