10/11: R&R weekend for me and the family. Took my brother in law to the "not-so-secret" secret tog spot, fished off the fence at the end' outgoing water. Brought 3 dozen greenies, blew threw them in no time. This was Anthony's first time toggin', he did good once he got the hang of it nailing about a dozen with 1 nice keeper at 16". I had at least that many with 2 more keepers right at the mark. Kept our 2. A fish & wildlife officer came down to check everyone, checked our fish, etc, all was well. Also had a nice chat w/ the guy about the regs and what not, and he said they've been nailing a lot of people at that spot, all along the fence, with buckets full of short fish (porgies, seabass, tog).
Got back to my dad's went up to the beach, found some bluefish from Lavalette down to the piers on metal. 4-7# variety. Lots of people on the beach, more sunbathers than fishermen!
10/12: Had a party to go to this morning in N Jersey for my wife's cousin who's going in the Marines this week, so my brother in law and I got out for about an hour early to put some fuel in the boat and play around a little with the twinkie sized bass in the river. Caught some, biggest 16", on light tackle and small pearl shads off the bridges. Fish were in tight to the structure, but pulled drag and went nuts when we hooked up.. Fun stuff
