Busted out of work early. Ran out with the Tombinator just in time for sunset in search of the elusive rockfish. Flat conditions, water temp 63°, nice night weatherwise.
Drifted thru and in and around the Rip, jigging the end of the incoming, no luck. Few boats doing the same. One guy we called "the Sun" had like six 1000W halogens on his spreader bar-- is that really necessary? And with a full moon?
With minimal radio chatter and even less 1sthand intel, we moved between the channels, trolling plugs over some good marks in 20-35' but found lockjaw only during the slack.
We chunked near shore with bunker and pitched some clams and Gulp eels; similar results.
Made a move up the Shrewsbury when the outgoing started, drifting and jigging some fishy looking areas from the Highlands Bridge back out up the west side of SH; had some more good marks but nobody hungry.
Back at the dock by 2330; no Bass, not for lack of trying.
