Raritan Bay 10/15
« on: October 15, 2008, 06:28:25 PM »
picked up a 1/2 bushel of clams and 2 dozen sand worms this morning at Fred's,had fishing buddies John and Dave out for the day.started out with a few short drifts in the Reach, then headed for Romers shoal, anchored and chummed heavy with fresh clams, all we got for our efforts were skates and sea robins.did see a boat off of us about 75 yards pull in a few bass, assumed they were using clams for bait because they were chumming with them, using the bat to break up fresh clams, when they moved out, moved to where they were and nothing, used patience and stayed on anchor and not doing a lot of moving, gave up around one and headed back bay and continued drifting in different areas of the Reach, still came up mt,headed for home around 3:30,beautiful day on the water, next going to try an evening trip.     Kez

While fishing weaks in the reach I had acres of Rain fish around me, Bass were swirling on top, Blues were jumping out of the water.....threw and tried everything I had/know......got 1 10 lb Blue.....Bass all seemed to be 22-26".....they are here, just got to catch them right. Hopefully a good cool down will come and bust things open TT^
